NYA CEO Commends UNIYIA For It's Contribution To Climate Change Education Among The Youth

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, Hon. Pius Enam Hadzide has commended the United Youth Initiative for Africa’s (UNIYIA) activities and efforts in sensitising Ghanaian youth on Climate Change and its associated crisis and solutions.

He pointed out the rising concern of the crisis over the years and its visible effect on the environment. He therefore called for the urgent need to inform and educate the youth on climate change issues and its impact globally.

He made this known when a team from the United Youth Initiative for Africa visited the Authority's headquarters in Accra to formally present a citation to the CEO for honouring their invitation to the just ended Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) for Climate Change in Ghana.

Among other issues discussed was a prospective Climate Action desk at the Authority to facilitate issues of climate change and its diverse impact on the youth.

In response, LCOY Ghana convener, Nadia Owusu , expressed her organization’s interest and willingness to partner with the Authority to make that a reality.

Background

Local Conference of Youth (LCOY Ghana) is an event organised by United Youth Initiative for Africa (UNIYIA) and Green Africa Youth Organisation (GAYO) which is geared towards creating a platform for Ghanaian youth to contribute to the Global Climate Change Statement. This event allows the voices of young people in Ghana to be captured in the global climate change crisis and subsequently presented to World leaders and policy makers.
