Unified to create sustainable pathways for youth and community development

United Youth Initiative for Africa (UNIYIA) is a youth-led youth-focused non-profit organisation leading sustainable development in the field of Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction, Smart Agriculture, Circular Economy and Gender Development Since 2017, UNIYIA has engaged 5000+ youth in our SDG awareness and sensitization program which has broadened the youth's sense of making a positive impact by providing them with the know-how on government processes, programs, and projects.

Our vision

UNIYIA envisions consistently promoting and inspiring sustainable outcomes that young people will leverage to transition Africa to a sustainable future.

Our mission

Our mission is to develop pathways to empower young people and underprivileged communities to develop sustainable outputs through research, capacity building, advocacy, collaboration and environmental conservation.

UNIYIA’s Activities

1

Project Management & Development

The Climate and Environmental space continue to face many challenges: there are still too many projects that fail, successful practice is too frequently ignored and failure often lies beyond the boundaries of project management. To deliver on one of our core strengths, we need to inspire the space to understand the contribution they can make to project success.

Given that we are at the pinnacle of a climate emergency, we are open to working with diverse youth-led youth-focused groups/CSOs, communities and generations to pump the brakes and implement innovative ideas that pave the way for a greener future.

Research

Creating a sustainable future requires that there is enough food, water and energy for everyone and we need to do this within planetary boundaries. As such, we are committed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals because the Goals provide a blueprint to create a fair future for everyone. To follow these blueprints, we need to know how and this is where research comes in.

Development problems are multifaceted, they are local and global, material and social, political and industrial and science alone can’t solve them. That’s why research is one of our strong anchors in creating holistic and cross-cutting solutions. We plan to support our development partners to create usable knowledge that addresses the complexity of the environmental crisis.

3

Capability Building & Training

Our key strength is to foster growth, good impact, sustainable development and projects globally. To achieve that, we focus on designing and delivering top capacity building and training to our beneficiaries and stakeholders.

Our capacity building and training are based on the most advanced knowledge management and learning principles delivered within our scope of work.

Advocacy

Our programs and projects build young people with knowledge, skills and technology, and support them in collaborating through networks and are connected to meaningful opportunities to engage in policy processes. This helps hold governments to account for national and international commitments to development pathways that are both sustainable and just.

This helps to create enabling environment for young people to better engage in government and inter-governmental decision mechanisms and supports young people to advocate for participation in state-led policy mechanisms.

5

Strategic Partnerships & Collaborations

Since our inception, UNIYIA has strived to foster meaningful partnerships and collaborations with stakeholders and international organisations/agencies that have an interest in climate change, youth and sustainable development. UNIYIA will deploy an assortment of partnership building activities and engagement opportunities to increase collaboration with communities, local governments, international organisations/agencies and stakeholders.

UNIYIA aims to extend her presence to the global space to attune to recent conversations, opportunities and happenings within the organisation’s area of work. UNIYIA also seeks to earn the attention of partners, donors and investors to scale up impact and engagement in the fight for climate justice and sustainable development goals.

Global Representation & Engagement

Conferences, and other events that bring industry professionals together, are great places to generate highly qualified leads and develop our presence in the climate and environmental space. It is also a medium we find ways to improve our knowledge, network and contribute and connect with potential partners and donors.

TESTIMONIAL

Sometime in the past, food crops like maize did extremely well but due to the unfavourable weather pattern, we harvested low yields and many other disadvantages. But now, SISIL has trained us on climate modification to our benefit.

QUOTE

The danger of global warming is real enough for us to make changes and sacrifices, so that we do not live at the expense of future generations.
